Knight of Dusk is a 2/2 first striker for two mana that can destroy a tapped creature by paying one black — a relevant activated ability, but one that costs mana and requires your target to be tapped. It's a fine role-player in aggressive black builds, but it's never the card you're excited to draw.

In Commander, Knight of Dusk occupies the low end of the curve in aggressive black strategies, but the conditional removal — tapped creatures only — is too narrow to justify a slot when black has unconditional removal at similar price points. In Legacy and Vintage, the competition from two-drop creatures and removal spells is so steep that Knight of Dusk never sees play. Modern is the same story: the format has outpaced a vanilla-statted two-drop with a situational activated ability by a wide margin. Oathbreaker shares Commander's constraints, and the same logic applies.

Price Context
Current price
$0.48 bulk tier
At $0.48, Knight of Dusk is bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not power. It won't appreciate; the card has no spike demand and no competitive home to drive price movement.
