Keeper of the Beasts turns your opponents' creature-heavy boards into a steady stream of 3/3 Beast tokens — but only if you control fewer creatures than another player, which makes it a liability in the early game and a powerhouse the moment you fall behind. The activation cost is trivially cheap, and in any green Commander deck that wants to go wide, this card pulls real weight.
Format Analysis

Commander is the only home where Keeper of the Beasts is genuinely good — multiplayer tables run large creature counts, the card advantage compounds across multiple opponents, and the three-player-or-more dynamic means you're almost always finding a target for the activated ability. In Legacy and Vintage it's technically legal but never played; two-player games don't give the condition room to breathe, and those formats have far more efficient ways to generate tokens. Oathbreaker shares enough of Commander's multiplayer DNA that Keeper of the Beasts is playable there too, particularly in green token strategies.

Price Context
Current price
$0.22 bulk tier
At $0.22, Keeper of the Beasts is deep bulk — you're picking it out of a dollar box, not tracking it on a buylist. Demand is narrow enough that the price isn't going anywhere, but for token-based green Commander decks it's one of the most efficient cents-per-token sources available.
