Kadena's Silencer hits the battlefield and immediately shuts off activated abilities on every nonland permanent an opponent controls — a one-sided stax effect stapled to a morph creature. The cost is that it only locks down one player, but in a morphs deck led by Kadena, Slinking Sorcerer that trades in repeatable free casts, a three-mana silence on your most dangerous opponent is a clean deal.

Commander is the only home where Kadena's Silencer earns a regular slot — shutting down one player's activated abilities is proportionally stronger in a multiplayer game where the player you lock is often the archenemy, and the morph synergy payoffs are Commander-exclusive infrastructure. In Legacy and Vintage it's technically legal but competes with counterspells and faster answers that don't cost three mana and only affect one opponent, so it never sees play there. Oathbreaker is the one non-Commander format where it could theoretically fit a morph-adjacent shell, but the two-player-skewed environment makes the single-target lock less impactful.
