Jungle Creeper card art
Jungle Creeper is a recursive three-color creature that keeps coming back from the graveyard as long as you can pay the cost — resilient on paper, but three mana to return a 3/3 with no enters-the-battlefield effect is a bad rate. You run it only when redundancy on graveyard recursion matters more than raw power.

Format Analysis

Jungle Creeper is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but it sees essentially no play in any of them. In Commander, the format where graveyard recursion is most valued, it competes with engines that do far more for the same or less mana — the floor for a recursive creature in 100-card singleton is high, and Jungle Creeper doesn't clear it. In Legacy and Vintage, three colors and three mana for a 3/3 with no immediate impact is unplayable. Modern and Pioneer have enough cheap recursive threats that Jungle Creeper never enters the conversation.
