Jenara, Asura of War is a 3/3 flying general for three mana that can grow itself at instant speed for a single blue mana and a +1/+1 counter — a repeatable threat that punishes opponents who tap out. The cost is color identity: Bant locks you into green, white, and blue, which is a real deckbuilding constraint but also a rich one.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Jenara, Asura of War sits in an awkward spot — she's a perfectly serviceable Bant commander, but Bant has no shortage of more powerful options, and a voltron-style beatdown plan is slow against a table of three opponents. In Legacy and Vintage, a three-mana 3/3 flier with a mana sink is too slow to compete with the formats' resource-efficient threats, so she sees essentially zero competitive play there. Modern is theoretically legal but the same critique applies — she doesn't have the raw power or enters-the-battlefield effect to justify the slot. Where Jenara actually thrives is in lower-powered Commander tables where her repeatable pump gives her genuine late-game staying power and her Bant color identity opens up the full suite of green ramp, white removal, and blue interaction.
