Ixalli's Lorekeeper card art
Ixalli's Lorekeeper puts every Dinosaur you cast onto the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter and then untaps your lands — that's free acceleration stapled to a permanent stat boost. In Pantlaza, Sun-Favored decks especially, the untap effect means the mana you spent casting a Dinosaur effectively costs nothing after the first trigger fires.

Pantlaza, Sun-Favored

Pantlaza, Sun-Favored

40.2% of decks · synergy 0.35

Pantlaza, Sun-Favored's discover triggers already reward you for chaining Dinosaurs, and Ixalli's Lorekeeper's land untap means the mana you spend casting each discovered creature refuels immediately, letting you capitalize on whatever else hits the table that turn.

Owen Grady, Raptor TrainerBlue, Loyal Raptor

Owen Grady, Raptor Trainer // Blue, Loyal Raptor

31.4% of decks · synergy 0.31

Owen Grady, Raptor Trainer // Blue, Loyal Raptor leans on buffing creatures with counters, so the +1/+1 counter Ixalli's Lorekeeper staples to every Dinosaur you cast compounds with Owen's own counter-placement and keeps the board growing without extra investment.

03
Gishath, Sun's Avatar

Gishath, Sun's Avatar

23.7% of decks · synergy 0.18

Gishath, Sun's Avatar wants a packed hand of Dinosaurs and the mana to hard-cast them before connecting for the first time, and Ixalli's Lorekeeper's untap effect shortens that runway by effectively rebating the cost of each Dinosaur you play into Gishath's attack step.

Format Analysis

Ixalli's Lorekeeper is a Commander card through and through — its value scales with a dedicated Dinosaur tribe, which only a 100-card singleton format can reliably support. In Modern, Pioneer, and Legacy, Dinosaur tribal lacks the critical mass and competitive payoffs to justify a three-mana do-nothing-on-arrival creature, and the untap ability reads as irrelevant tempo in those faster formats. Standard gives it the most marginal case outside Commander, but even there the effect is too slow for most constructed strategies. Stick to Commander, specifically Naya or five-color Dinosaur shells, where the density of big green and red Dinosaurs turns every subsequent cast into a mana-positive action.

Price Context

Current price

$0.24 bulk tier

At $0.24, Ixalli's Lorekeeper is deep bulk — buy the playset and still pay under a dollar. Given its narrow tribal home, the price is unlikely to spike unless a new Dinosaur commander pushes the archetype into higher demand, but as a near-free pickup for any Dinosaur deck it represents strong value per dollar spent.
