Ivory Gargoyle card art
Ivory Gargoyle is a 2/2 flyer that refuses to stay dead — when it dies, you pay four mana to return it to play at your upkeep, then skip your draw step as the tax. That recursion loop pairs awkwardly with Staff of Compleation and similar cards that want your draw step active, so run it only in decks that either exploit the loop deliberately or don't care about the draw penalty.

Format Analysis

Ivory Gargoyle is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but sees virtually no competitive play in any of them. In Commander, the self-recursion is mildly interesting in white decks that want persistent blockers or abuse death triggers, but skipping your draw step in a 100-card singleton format is a steep cost that most pilots will never accept. Legacy and Vintage have access to far more efficient threats and recursion engines, so Ivory Gargoyle doesn't register in either format. It's a fringe Commander pick at best, and only in very specific shells.
