Ironclad Revolutionary enters, sacrifices an artifact, drains each opponent for 2, and hands you a 2/2 — three lines of effect stapled to one body. The cost is real: six mana for a 4/4 is below-rate, and the artifact sacrifice is mandatory, so if you have nothing to feed it the drain never happens.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is the only format where Ironclad Revolutionary is worth considering — draining each opponent for 2 scales with pod size, so at a four-player table it's a six-point life swing, not a two-point one. In Legacy, Modern, or Pioneer, a six-mana 4/4 with a conditional ETB trigger simply can't compete with the efficiency those formats demand. Oathbreaker is legal but faces the same problem: 1v1 or small-pod play cuts the drain's ceiling dramatically and exposes the raw stats as undercosted nowhere. Stick to Commander, specifically artifact-sacrifice shells where the mandatory sacrifice cost is a feature rather than a tax.

Price Context
Current price
$0.07 bulk tier
At $0.07, Ironclad Revolutionary is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not the card. That price is stable because demand is narrow and supply is abundant; don't expect movement in either direction.
