Invoke the Ancients puts two 4/5 Elementals with your choice of vigilance or reach onto the battlefield for five mana — immediate board presence that trades up against most attackers and blocks everything without tapping. The double-green pip cost is real, but in any deck that can reliably pay it, this is a better threat than most six- and seven-drops.

Invoke the Ancients is a Commander card through and through — five mana for two 4/5s with relevant keyword choices is a strong rate in a 40-life, multiplayer format where you need bodies that survive a turn around the table. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer it's legal but irrelevant; those formats end before a five-mana sorcery that doesn't win the game on the spot gets to matter. Oathbreaker can support it in dedicated green shells, but the 20-life format moves fast enough that the delayed payoff is a liability more often than not.
