Invert Polarity card art
Invert Polarity redirects a spell targeting you back at its controller and flips a coin — the redirection is guaranteed, the coin flip is gravy. At two mana, it pulls double duty as protection and a coin-flip trigger, which is exactly why Yusri, Fortune's Flame decks treat it as a staple.

Yusri, Fortune's Flame attacks to flip coins, and Invert Polarity adds a free flip whenever an opponent aims removal or a counterspell your way — protection that also fuels the engine.

Okaun, Eye of Chaos // Zndrsplt, Eye of Wisdom

69.0% of decks · synergy 0.57

Okaun, Eye of Chaos // Zndrsplt, Eye of Wisdom lives on coin-flip volume, and Invert Polarity turns an opponent's spell into a coin flip trigger while keeping your board intact.

oathbreaker

In Commander, Invert Polarity earns its slot almost exclusively in coin-flip decks — outside that niche, a two-mana redirect with a coin flip upside is too situational to compete with unconditional counterspells. Legacy and Vintage have access to Misdirection and Force of Will, so Invert Polarity doesn't register there. Modern has no meaningful coin-flip payoffs at a competitive level, leaving this card without a real home. Oathbreaker follows the same pattern as Commander: coin-flip commanders are where it belongs, and it's a fine inclusion there.
