Into the Void bounces two creatures to hand at sorcery speed for four mana — the effect is real, the cost is steep. Passable in formats that move slowly; in Commander it's almost always the wrong card for the slot.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Into the Void sees virtually no play in Legacy, Modern, or Pioneer — four mana at sorcery speed for a bounce effect is several generations behind what those formats tolerate, where Unsummon and Stern Dismissal exist at a fraction of the cost and speed. In Commander it occupies a narrow niche: casual blue decks that need budget bounce and don't have access to better options, or spell-matters shells where the card type matters as much as the effect. Even there, it competes with Cyclonic Rift at the high end and Boomerang-style effects at the low end, and it loses both comparisons. Oathbreaker is the one format where a slightly slower clock might make the double bounce feel like a two-for-one worth having.
