Into the Night card art
Into the Night transforms every Human in play into a Werewolf and forces a day-to-night transition — all at instant speed for three mana — which means a Tovolar, Dire Overlord deck can flip its whole board and trigger his card-draw engine in one move. It's a narrow card that does exactly one thing, and in the decks that want it, that one thing is the whole game.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01

Tovolar, Dire Overlord

29.9% of decks · synergy 0.29

Tovolar, Dire Overlord rewards you for attacking with Wolves and Werewolves, and Into the Night short-circuits the day/night clock by converting Humans and forcing nightfall at will — giving Tovolar immediate access to his card-draw trigger rather than waiting for opponents to cooperate.

02
Vadrik, Astral Archmage

Vadrik, Astral Archmage

21.0% of decks · synergy 0.21

Vadrik, Astral Archmage scales his instant and sorcery cost reduction off the time of day, and Into the Night guarantees night is active on demand, letting Vadrik chain spells at drastically reduced costs on the same turn.

Into the Night is a Commander card through and through — the day/night mechanic lives and dies in multiplayer, where multiple opponents' spell-casting patterns make the clock unpredictable, and the ability to force night unilaterally is worth real mana. In Modern and Legacy it's legal but effectively invisible; no competitive archetype wants a three-mana instant that solely manipulates day/night and converts Humans. Pioneer offers the same story — the effect has no natural home outside dedicated Werewolf shells, which aren't a factor in those formats. Commander is the one place Into the Night earns its slot, specifically in Werewolf tribal decks that need reliable nightfall on their own terms.

Price Context

Current price

$0.38 bulk tier

At $0.38, Into the Night sits firmly in bulk territory, which is appropriate for a card with a single narrow application. Bulk staples for tribal decks tend to stay cheap unless the archetype spikes in popularity, so don't expect the price to move.
