Indebted Samurai can grow into a serious threat in a Samurai-heavy deck, stacking +1/+1 counters whenever another Samurai you control dies. The catch is that four mana for a vanilla 3/3 until your creatures start dying is a slow setup — it earns its slot only if you're already committed to the Samurai tribe.

Commander is where Indebted Samurai has any real home, specifically in tribal builds that can flood the board with Samurai and generate sacrifice or combat attrition loops to pump it repeatedly. In Legacy, Modern, and Vintage it is technically legal but competes in formats where tribal synergies need to be far more efficient to matter, and Indebted Samurai simply doesn't clear that bar. Outside of a dedicated Samurai Commander deck, it's a card that sits on the bench.

Price Context
Current price
$1.00 cheap tier
At $1.00, Indebted Samurai sits in the affordable tribal-piece tier where you're not taking a financial risk by picking one up. Demand is narrow enough that the price is unlikely to spike unless a new high-profile Samurai commander drives sudden tribal interest.
