Implement of Examination is a one-mana artifact that replaces itself with a card draw when it dies — the payoff is the death trigger, not the object itself. It's a role-player in artifact-count or sacrifice-synergy shells, and a waste of a slot everywhere else.

Implement of Examination sees its most relevant play in Commander, specifically in decks that reward artifact enters-the-battlefield triggers, sacrifice outlets, or both — Breya, Etherium Shaper and Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle are the natural homes. In Pauper it occasionally surfaces in metalcraft or affinity builds that need cheap artifacts to fuel artifact-count thresholds, though better options usually crowd it out. Modern, Pioneer, Legacy, and Vintage have no meaningful use for it — the rate is simply too low for competitive non-rotating formats. Oathbreaker follows the same logic as Commander: narrow but real in the right shell.
