Igneous Elemental enters the battlefield and removes a small creature or artifact while leaving a body behind — two-for-one stapled onto a 4/3. The cost is a five-mana slot where the competition is steep, and you're not running Igneous Elemental unless your deck specifically rewards Elemental tribal or repeated enters-the-battlefield triggers.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Igneous Elemental fits narrowly into Elemental-tribal builds or value-flicker shells that can recur the enters-the-battlefield effect repeatedly — outside those homes, five mana for a 4/3 with a conditional removal ping doesn't clear the bar. In Pauper, where card advantage is tightly rationed at common, the guaranteed two-for-one at a manageable rate is more meaningful, though the format's low creature toughnesses mean the three-damage ceiling is rarely a constraint. Legacy and Vintage are non-starters for Igneous Elemental — the power ceiling in those formats makes a five-mana vanilla-adjacent creature invisible. Oathbreaker follows the same logic as Commander: synergy-dependent, serviceable in the right shell, unimpressive outside it.

Pricing data for Igneous Elemental isn't currently available, which typically signals a bulk common or uncommon — expect to find it in a bulk bin or for under $0.25 on the secondary market. At that price point there's no risk in picking up a copy if you're building an Elemental deck, but don't hunt for it; it'll find you.
