Ichorplate Golem gives every other artifact creature you control a free poison counter trigger, turning an incidental board into a consistent infect clock without requiring combat damage. Five mana for a 4/4 that passively weaponizes your existing artifacts is a real rate in the right shell.

Ichorplate Golem is a Commander card — the poison counter synergy only compounds in a multiplayer game where you're running a board of artifact creatures over multiple turns. In Modern or Pioneer it's too slow and too narrow; dedicated infect decks there want creatures that deal poison damage directly, not a five-mana enabler sitting behind them. Legacy and Vintage have the artifact density in theory but far better things to do at five mana. Stick to Commander, specifically any artifact-heavy deck where poison is either a primary win condition or a credible secondary threat.

Price Context
Current price
$0.17 bulk tier
At $0.17, Ichorplate Golem is bulk — the price reflects its niche role rather than any power ceiling. It won't spike unless a high-profile artifact-poison Commander gets printed and drags demand with it, so pick it up now if the shell calls for it and don't overthink the buy-in.
