Hornet Harasser enters the battlefield and immediately shrinks the most dangerous creature an opponent controls by -2/-2, while leaving behind a 1/1 Insect with flying and deathtouch as a residual blocker. Three mana for that combined effect is a reasonable rate, but it's narrow enough that only decks actively caring about Insects, enters-the-battlefield triggers, or token generation will want it.

In Commander, Hornet Harasser is a role-player in Insect tribal or aristocrats shells that can exploit the token it generates — the deathtouch flier punches well above its size as a blocker and trades up into anything. Outside of those archetypes, a sorcery-speed -2/-2 that doesn't permanently remove the threat is too low-impact across four opponents. In Pauper, the card is legal but the floor on interactive spells is high enough that Hornet Harasser rarely makes the cut over direct removal. Legacy and Vintage are non-starters on power level alone.

Price Context
Current price
$0.11 bulk tier
At $0.11, Hornet Harasser is deep bulk — you're paying essentially nothing for it. Price stability is a non-issue; it's the kind of card that sits in bulk bins indefinitely unless a future Insect-tribal payoff pushes demand.
