Hollowhenge Scavenger enters the battlefield and gains you life equal to the power of target creature you control — on a 4/5 body for five mana, that's a meaningful life swing the turn it lands. Solid in self-mill and graveyard shells, but too slow and too conditional for anything that needs speed.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

Hollowhenge Scavenger is a Commander card through and through — the format's longer games give it time to matter, and graveyard-centric commanders that fill the bin fast can make the lifegain trigger off a massive creature. In Legacy, Modern, and Vintage it's unplayable; five mana for a vanilla-adjacent creature with a conditional lifegain trigger doesn't come close to competing with those formats' power baselines. Oathbreaker shares Commander's slower pace but its smaller deck size and lower life totals shrink the window where a 4/5 for five is relevant.
