Hit // Run trades sorcery-speed instant action for a two-mode split that can remove a blocker and close a game in the same turn cycle — Run's trample-and-haste clause hits harder than it looks when you're swinging with a 10/10 token. The combined mana cost is steep, but the card earns its slot in any Rakdos or Jund deck that goes wide and tall at the same time.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Hit // Run does its best work in token-heavy or reanimator lists where Run's 'deal damage equal to power' rider turns one fat creature into a one-shot threat while Hit cleans up a blocker the turn before. Legacy and Vintage have the raw speed to make four-plus mana split cards unplayable in most contexts, so Hit // Run doesn't see meaningful table time there despite being legal. Modern is similarly crowded with cheaper interaction, and the sorcery speed on both halves is a liability in a format full of instant-speed answers. It's a Commander card through and through.

$0.18 bulk tier
At $0.18, Hit // Run is deep bulk — you're picking this out of a dollar box or a bulk lot, not tracking it down as a deliberate purchase. That price is stable; there's no spike risk and no upside, so grab it if you need it and don't think twice.
