Highland Forest

In Commander, Highland Forest is a budget dual that earns its slot in any Gruul or three-color green-red shell — the enters-tapped cost is real, but cycling for one green or red means it never bricks you in the mid-to-late game. Competitive Commander lists skip it in favor of untapped duals, but at the casual and focused bracket it's a clean include. In Pauper, it competes directly with the full cycle of common Ravnica-style bounce lands and typed cycling duals, where its basic land types give it a narrow edge in landfall and land-fetching shells. Modern and Pioneer have access to far better dual lands at comparable prices, so Highland Forest sees essentially no play there. Legacy and Vintage have no practical use for it given the available mana base options.
