Hidden Footblade puts a free deathtouch counter on one of your creatures when it enters, threatening any blocker that trades into it — and the equip cost keeps it mobile after that. It's a role-player in aggressive creature decks, not a staple, but the floor of a free ETB effect makes it easy to justify a slot.
Format Analysis

Hidden Footblade is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but the formats where it actually sees play are narrow. In Commander it fits best in combat-focused decks that want cheap, repeatable ways to push through damage or deter blocks — deathtouch is a credible threat multiplier when your commander is already threatening. In Legacy and Modern the competition for one-mana equipment slots is steep enough that Hidden Footblade rarely earns a spot outside of dedicated Equipment synergy shells. Vintage has better things to do at every point on the curve.
