Hearth Charm does three unrelated things, none of them well enough to justify a card slot on their own. At one red mana, the flexibility sounds appealing until you realize each mode is narrowly conditional — this is a charm that mostly sits in hand waiting for a situation that never arrives.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Hearth Charm is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but seeing genuine play in almost none of them. In Commander, three-mode flexibility is usually a virtue, but each of Hearth Charm's modes — destroying a Wall, giving a creature rampage until end of turn, or making a Swamp creature lose protection from red — is too situational to pull consistent weight in a 100-card singleton format. Pauper is where it comes closest to relevance, since common-legal removal alternatives are limited and niche modes can occasionally matter, but even there it rarely makes cuts. Legacy and Vintage have access to every card ever printed, which makes narrow charms like this invisible.

Price Context
Current price
$0.21 bulk tier
At $0.21, Hearth Charm sits firmly in bulk territory, and there's no pressure driving that price upward — demand is low and copies are plentiful. It's a safe pickup if a specific build needs one of its modes, but don't expect the price to move.
