Harried Dronesmith puts a free artifact token on the board the moment it attacks — that's immediate value before your opponent can respond. The catch is a three-mana 2/3 with no evasion; it lives and dies by whether you can loop that attack trigger, which is exactly why Breath of Fury turns it from a fair card into an engine.

Commander is where Harried Dronesmith actually belongs — artifact-token synergies, sacrifice outlets, and combat-loop payoffs are everywhere in the format, and the card slots cleanly into Breya, Brudiclad, or any Boros artifacts shell. In 60-card formats it's too slow and too fair; a three-mana 2/3 that makes a 1/1 on attack doesn't threaten anything in Modern or Pioneer where the battlefield moves faster and creature floors are higher. Standard gives it the most charitable 60-card environment, but even there it's a Limited card at best rather than a constructed staple.

$0.23 bulk tier
At $0.23, Harried Dronesmith is firmly bulk — buy a playset without thinking about it. Bulk artifact-synergy pieces rarely spike unless a combo gets solved around them, so treat this as a low-risk pickup for any Commander build that wants the token gameplan.
