Harm's Way redirects up to 3 damage from a source to any target — protection plus reach on a single one-mana instant. It's a niche but surprisingly versatile combat trick that earns its slot in white decks that want to trade efficiently or close out games with redirected burn.

In Commander, Harm's Way is a low-cost surprise that does double duty: save a creature, redirect 3 to a planeswalker, or finish off a weakened opponent with their own attack. It's narrow enough that only dedicated combat or damage-matters builds want it, but in those shells it overperforms its mana cost. In Legacy and Vintage, the card is legal but rarely sees play — the formats move too fast and the effect too small to justify it over counterspells or broader protection. Modern has the same problem; white has better one-mana options at instant speed. Harm's Way is fundamentally a Commander card, where the politics of redirecting damage create situations no other format replicates.

$0.09 bulk tier
At $0.09, Harm's Way is deep bulk — you'll find it in a commons box before you'd need to order it. There's no meaningful price floor to fall through, and the ceiling is capped by how narrow the effect is, so pick it up without a second thought.
