Hand of Emrakul puts a 7/7 annihilator 1 body on the board for nine mana — respectable stats, but annihilator 1 is the least threatening version of that ability and nine mana is a lot to spend on a creature that won't end the game on its own. It's a budget Eldrazi placeholder, not a finisher you build around.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Hand of Emrakul sits at the low end of the Eldrazi power band — playable in dedicated Eldrazi tribal decks or token-sacrifice shells that cast it for free, but crowded out by superior options at nearly every price point. In Pauper it's one of the only annihilator creatures available at common, which gives it a narrow niche in Eldrazi-themed casual builds, though the format rarely rewards nine-mana threats. Legacy and Vintage have access to fast mana and Eldrazi that end games on contact, so Hand of Emrakul doesn't see competitive play there. Outside of Commander and Pauper, this card doesn't have a home.

Price Context
Current price
$0.34 bulk tier
At $0.34, Hand of Emrakul is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not power. That price is stable because demand is low and supply is abundant; don't expect movement in either direction.
