Halo Hunter enters as a 6/5 trampler that destroys every Angel on the battlefield — a one-card board wipe for the most heavily played creature type in Commander. The cost is a narrow setup requirement: it's dead weight unless Angels are at the table, which makes it a meta call, not a staple.

Halo Hunter is almost exclusively a Commander card — the format where Angel tribal is common enough that its enters-the-battlefield wipe reliably hits something. In Legacy and Vintage, Angel density is too low and the competition at five mana too fierce for Halo Hunter to earn a slot. Modern has the same problem compounded by a faster clock. Commander is the one format where a single player running Lyra Dawnbringer or Giada, Font of Hope makes this card immediately threatening, and in pods with multiple Angel players it generates immediate, asymmetric advantage.

Price Context
Current price
$0.21 bulk tier
At $0.21, Halo Hunter is deep bulk — easy to pick up in a trade binder or throw into a cart without thinking. Price is unlikely to move unless Angel tribal commanders spike in popularity, so grab it when you need it and don't hold extras.
