Hagra Constrictor card art
Hagra Constrictor gives every creature with a +1/+1 counter on it deathtouch for free, turning a counter-heavy board into a removal deterrent with no mana investment beyond the two-mana body. In Blech, Loafing Pest decks where counters accumulate by default, that static effect is live on arrival and stays live.

Blech, Loafing Pest

Blech, Loafing Pest

21.4% of decks · synergy 0.21

Blech, Loafing Pest distributes +1/+1 counters as a core function, so Hagra Constrictor's blanket deathtouch converts the entire board into a combat nightmare for opponents the moment it resolves.

Felisa, Fang of Silverquill

Felisa, Fang of Silverquill

13.5% of decks · synergy 0.13

Felisa, Fang of Silverquill cares about creatures dying with counters on them, and Hagra Constrictor makes those creatures deathtouch threats that opponents are forced to answer with removal rather than blocks — feeding Felisa's token engine on the way out.

In Commander, Hagra Constrictor is a role-player in any deck that distributes +1/+1 counters at scale — counters matter, Proliferate, and aristocrats-adjacent strategies all get real mileage from blanket deathtouch on a two-mana creature. In Pauper, where combat is a primary decision point, the threat of deathtouch across multiple bodies is genuinely disruptive, though it needs a counter engine to do more than sit there. In Modern and Pioneer, Hagra Constrictor is too slow and too conditional to compete; dedicated +1/+1 counter decks in those formats have more efficient ways to apply pressure. Legacy and Vintage don't want it at all.

Price Context

Current price

$0.15 bulk tier

At $0.15, Hagra Constrictor is pure bulk — pick it up without a second thought if the shell fits. Bulk rares with narrow tribal or synergy homes don't tend to move unless a new commander breaks them out, so expect this price to stay flat.
