Haazda Shield Mate card art
Haazda Shield Mate enters with a shield counter on each creature you control — immediate, board-wide protection for zero additional mana beyond its cost. A 1/1 for three mana is a terrible rate, and this effect doesn't come close to justifying it.

Haazda Shield Mate is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but sees essentially no competitive play in any of them. In Commander it's the most plausible home — shield counters have real value protecting a board from sweepers — but three mana for a 1/1 that does this once is outclassed by enchantments and instants that protect more reliably and repeatedly. Legacy and Modern have no interest in a 1/1 for three with no immediate tempo impact. Oathbreaker mirrors the Commander read: niche at best.

At $0.27, Haazda Shield Mate is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not demand. That price is stable because there's no competitive pressure to drive it up.
