Guardian of Pilgrims enters and gives a creature +1/+1 until end of turn, then leaves a 1/1 Spirit token with flying when it dies — two bodies for two mana, with the ETB trigger doing real work in flicker and sacrifice shells. It's a role-player, not a headliner, but the value density is honest for the cost.

In Commander, Guardian of Pilgrims earns its slot specifically in flicker, aristocrats, or spirit-tribal builds — generic white creature decks will find the effect too marginal to justify the slot. In Pauper, the commons environment rewards this kind of two-for-one density more directly, and the 1/1 flying token is a real clock in aggressive white builds. Modern and Legacy have enough efficient alternatives that Guardian of Pilgrims never competes for a slot outside of narrow theme decks. Pioneer and Oathbreaker follow the same logic as Commander — synergy-dependent, not generically playable.

Price Context
Current price
$0.06 bulk tier
At $0.06, Guardian of Pilgrims is deep bulk — you're picking it out of a commons box, not ordering it. Bulk commons at this price point don't appreciate, so run it if it fits the deck and don't think twice about the cost.
