Gruul Charm

In Commander, Gruul Charm does its best work in aggressive Gruul decks that go wide on the ground and consistently face flying blockers or hexproof threats from opponents — the "all creatures with flying lose flying" mode can blank an entire board position in the right pod. Competitive formats like Legacy and Modern have little interest in it; the modes are individually too low-impact to clear the bar against dedicated interaction, and a three-mode charm can't match point-removal efficiency when every slot counts. Pioneer is the same story — the format's fast enough that a two-mana spell needs to pull weight immediately, and Gruul Charm rarely does enough in isolation. Oathbreaker mirrors Commander's logic: aggressive red-green builds can find spot utility here, though the smaller deck size and lower life totals mean games often end before you need the insurance.
