Grozoth tutors every other copy of itself and every card with a mana value of 9 directly into your hand when it enters — but you're paying nine mana for a 9/9 with Defender to do it. Run it only in decks built to cheat it into play or that run a critical mass of nine-drops worth fetching.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

Commander is the only format where Grozoth earns a slot, and even there it asks for a specific shell: reanimator or cheat-into-play strategies that never intend to hard-cast it. In Legacy and Vintage it's strictly unplayable — nine mana for a Defender that can't attack is not a conversation those formats are having. Modern is the same story. Grozoth's value is entirely contingent on either cheating it into play to trigger the tutor or running enough nine-mana payoffs that the package effect justifies a deck-building constraint.

Price Context
Current price
$2.97 cheap tier
At $2.97, Grozoth sits at the low end of bulk-rare territory — cheap enough that the price is never the reason to exclude it. Demand is too narrow for it to climb; it's a build-around curiosity, not a staple, so don't expect the price to move in either direction.
