Griffin Protector enters as a 2/3 flier that grows by +1/+1 for each other creature entering alongside it — the ceiling is real in token or mass-blink strategies, but a vanilla 2/3 flier for four mana is below rate everywhere else. Unless you're engineering a board-wide ETB trigger on the same turn, this is a Limited card.

Griffin Protector is a bulk common that sees its best (and honestly still marginal) play in Commander, where mass-ETB effects from commanders like Avenger of Zendikar or Esika's Chariot can turn it into a meaningful threat for a single turn. In Pauper it competes against commons with stronger baseline stats or more reliable upside, and the conditional pump rarely materializes consistently enough to run it. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer the card simply doesn't exist competitively — four mana for a 2/3 with a situational bonus is decades behind the rate. Oathbreaker shares Commander's casual ETB potential but the smaller deck size and faster games make the condition harder to engineer reliably.

Price Context
Current price
$0.05 bulk tier
At $0.05, Griffin Protector is deep bulk — you'll find it in a common box long before you'd need to buy one. There is no meaningful price floor to protect here; it's a draft throwaway, and that's unlikely to change.
