Gravity Negator gives a creature flying until end of turn by tapping and spending an energy counter — useful evasion, but gated behind a resource you have to build around. Outside of dedicated energy shells, the effect is too conditional and too narrow to justify a roster slot.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Gravity Negator is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but sees meaningful play in almost none of them. In Commander, it only earns a slot in energy-focused builds where you're already generating counters in bulk — think Atraxa or Shorikai shells that double-dip on energy synergies. In Pauper it's at the right rarity but competes with evasion that doesn't require a secondary resource. Everywhere else, Gravity Negator is simply outclassed by permanents that grant flying unconditionally.

Price Context
Current price
$0.04 bulk tier
At $0.04, Gravity Negator is deep bulk — the kind of card you pull from a common box rather than order. That price reflects actual demand, and there's no pressure on it to rise given how narrowly the card performs.
