Gravegouger exiles up to two cards from graveyards when it enters and gets them back when it leaves — repeatable graveyard hate stapled to a returnable body. The catch is that it costs three mana for a 2/2, which is a real tax for decks that aren't already blinking or bouncing creatures.

In Commander, Gravegouger earns its slot in blink and flicker strategies — commanders like Brago, King Eternal or Yorion shells that can reset the enters-the-battlefield trigger repeatedly, turning it into a graveyard lockdown engine. Outside of those shells it's a one-shot hate piece competing against cheaper, more permanent options. In Pauper, where the card is legal and graveyard strategies are central to several top decks, Gravegouger is a reasonable sideboard consideration — though dedicated hate like Relic of Progenitus or Nihil Spellbomb usually outperforms it. Legacy and Vintage are too fast for a three-mana 2/2, so Gravegouger stays firmly on the sidelines there.

Price Context
Current price
$0.11 bulk tier
At $0.11, Gravegouger is deep bulk — easy to pick up as a throw-in without a second thought. Bulk creatures with narrow graveyard-hate applications rarely spike, so don't expect price movement unless a specific Commander deck pushes demand.
