Gravebind turns any targeting effect into a kill shot — as long as Horobi, Death's Wail is on the battlefield, every spell or ability that targets a creature destroys it outright. The cost is total dependency on a four-mana legendary that dies to its own engine, so outside that pairing Gravebind does nothing.

Horobi, Death's Wail
Horobi, Death's Wail makes every targeting effect lethal, and Gravebind is one of the cleanest ways to point that engine at any creature on the board for a single black mana — giving the deck a reusable, instant-speed removal spell that costs almost nothing.

In Commander, Gravebind is a one-trick card that earns its slot exactly once: in Horobi, Death's Wail decks, where it functions as repeatable instant-speed removal for one mana. Everywhere else it's a blank — no Horobi, no effect. In Legacy and Vintage it's technically legal but has never found a home; competitive formats don't have a Horobi to pair it with, and a do-nothing enchantment doesn't make the cut on its own. Pauper is its only other realistic home, and even there Gravebind sees essentially no play because black has better removal at common.

Price Context
Current price
$0.84 bulk tier
At $0.84, Gravebind sits in bulk-rare territory, which is exactly right for a card with one narrow use case. It holds that price through sheer Commander niche demand — Horobi players want it — but don't expect it to climb.
