Golden Wish fetches any artifact from outside the game — a sideboard or companion zone — directly to your hand for five mana at sorcery speed. That tutoring flexibility is real, but it's strictly a Constructed tool; in Commander, where sideboards don't exist by default, it's a blank card without a table agreement.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Golden Wish is a Legacy and Vintage niche piece, useful in artifact-combo shells that can stash a specific bullet — Ensnaring Bridge, a win condition, a piece of a lock — in the sideboard and fetch it on demand. In Commander, Golden Wish is effectively unplayable under standard rules; the format has no sideboard, so there's nothing to find. Some playgroups allow a personal "wish zone" by house rule, and in those games it becomes a five-mana tutor for any artifact, which is strong, but you're building around a table agreement rather than a reliable rules interaction. Oathbreaker has the same problem as Commander by default.

Price Context
Current price
$0.44 bulk tier
At $0.44, Golden Wish is firmly bulk — demand is too narrow to push it higher. It's unlikely to move without a rules change to Commander or a high-profile Legacy finish.
