Goblin Smuggler card art
Goblin Smuggler turns any creature you control into an unblockable threat for a turn at the cost of two mana and tapping it — a repeatable effect that snowballs fast in token-heavy or combo-adjacent Goblin lists. The three-mana 2/2 body is irrelevant; you're paying for the activated ability, and in the right shell it earns that slot.

In Commander, Goblin Smuggler earns its slot exclusively in Goblin tribal or token-wide strategies where unblockable evasion on demand closes games that stall on a fortified board. Outside of that niche, a three-mana 2/2 with a tap ability is too slow and too low-impact for most 100-card builds. In competitive 60-card formats — Modern, Pioneer, Legacy — it doesn't make the cut; aggro red decks have faster, harder-hitting three-drops, and the tap-and-two-mana activation cost is a liability at those speeds. Pauper is where Goblin Smuggler is most plausible outside Commander, since the common card pool is thinner and repeatable evasion has real utility in a Goblin shell trying to push through Fog of Gnats or Spore Frog effects.

Price Context

Current price

$0.12 bulk tier

At $0.12, Goblin Smuggler is deep bulk — you're acquiring it for nearly nothing, and there's no price pressure likely to change that given how narrowly it slots. Pick it up freely for any Goblin list that wants it; don't expect the price to move.
