Goblin Assailant is a 2/2 first striker for two mana — functional, forgettable, and outclassed by nearly every Goblin at the same cost. Run it only when you need bodies eight through ten in a token-flood strategy.

In Commander, Goblin Assailant is a bottom-of-the-barrel filler piece — Goblin tribal decks have access to Goblin Chieftain, Goblin Warchief, and Skirk Prospector at the same or lower cost, all of which do more work. In Pauper it competes with Mogg War Marshal and Goblin Matron, both of which generate more value for the slot. Legacy and Vintage Goblin strategies run so tight on powerful pieces that Goblin Assailant never makes the cut. Pioneer sees no meaningful Goblin synergy shell where a vanilla-adjacent 2/2 earns inclusion. First strike is a real keyword, but on a two-drop with no other text, it rarely changes outcomes at any table.

Price Context
Current price
$0.08 bulk tier
At $0.08, Goblin Assailant is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not power. It holds no meaningful value floor; there's no competitive demand that would push the price up.
