In Commander, Gleam of Resistance earns its slot in go-wide white decks that need a combat trick, a board-stabilizer, and ramp simultaneously — the basic-land fetch alone justifies the five-mana ask in a format where mana consistency matters. In Pauper it's legal but competes with cheaper tricks that do one thing better, so it rarely makes the cut. Legacy and Vintage have no interest in a five-mana sorcery-speed effect. Gleam of Resistance is essentially a Commander card that happens to be legal elsewhere.
