Glassdust Hulk attacks as a 6/4 unblockable the turn an artifact enters, which is a real threat in any deck spinning out artifacts regularly. The five-mana cost is the ceiling on its ambition — you need a shell that earns it.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Glassdust Hulk belongs in artifact-heavy builds — Breya, Esper Sentinel loops, or any deck that naturally floods the board with artifacts and wants a repeatable unblockable attacker to close games. Pauper is where Glassdust Hulk has the most competitive footing; affinity and artifact synergy decks at that level can trigger it consistently on a tight budget. In Legacy, Modern, and Vintage it's strictly outclassed — those formats have faster, more resilient threats that don't need a supporting cast to turn on. Oathbreaker follows the same logic as Commander: fine if your gameplan already triggers it, irrelevant otherwise.

Price Context
Current price
$0.17 bulk tier
At $0.17, Glassdust Hulk is deep bulk — you're not paying for the card, you're paying for the slot. It holds no financial value, but if the synergy fits your deck, the acquisition cost is essentially zero.
