Glarewielder forces up to two blockers to attack on your opponents' next turns, effectively clearing the path for your team while stranding their creatures out of position. Five mana for a 3/2 with haste is a real cost, but the tap-and-goad effect lands the turn it enters and punishes anyone who was sitting back on defense.

Commander is where Glarewielder earns its slot — in a three or four-player pod, goading two blockers across different opponents can reroute attacks and create the chaos aggressive strategies need to push through. In Legacy and Vintage it has no competitive footing; five mana for a 3/2 doesn't meet the bar those formats set. Modern is similarly unkind — the effect isn't efficient enough to compete with what red can do at five mana in that format. Glarewielder is a Commander-only pickup, and even there it wants a deck that closes fast once the path is open.

$0.22 bulk tier
At $0.22, Glarewielder is pure bulk — easy to acquire and easy to cut if the slot needs upgrading. It holds that price floor without much risk of movement in either direction.
