Gideon's Battle Cry card art
Gideon's Battle Cry puts two 2/2 Knight tokens into play and pumps your whole team +1/+1 until end of turn for three mana — that's immediate board presence plus a combat swing in the same card. The cost is that it does nothing on defense and asks you to already have creatures to make the pump clause matter.

In Commander, Gideon's Battle Cry fits token-go-wide strategies that want to close combat windows quickly — the token production is marginal at four players, but the instant-speed pump can turn a lethal alpha strike lethal when opponents don't see it coming. Modern and Pioneer have seen it in white aggro and Knight tribal shells where the token type matters for Haakon or History of Benalia synergies, though it rarely cracks mainboards in optimized lists. Legacy and Vintage have no interest — the effect is too slow and too small relative to what those formats are doing. Oathbreaker is the sweet spot outside Commander: a low card count and a Gideon planeswalker as signature spell make Gideon's Battle Cry a natural fit.

Price Context

Current price

$0.13 bulk tier

At $0.13, Gideon's Battle Cry is deep bulk — you're picking it up out of a dollar box, not a binder. It holds that floor indefinitely; there's no constructed demand pressuring the price upward, so grab it cheap and don't expect movement either direction.
