Ghost Warden is a two-mana 1/1 that taps to give any creature +1/+1 until end of turn — the body is irrelevant, the activated ability is the entire reason it exists. It earns a slot only in combo shells that need a repeatable, cheap way to pump a creature at instant speed; outside that narrow context, it's outclassed by nearly everything.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Ghost Warden is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but it sees real play almost exclusively in Commander combo lists. In Pauper it's technically usable but too slow and fragile to compete with the format's efficient threats. Legacy and Vintage have zero interest in a 1/1 with a tap ability that costs two mana. Commander is where Ghost Warden finds its home — specifically in untap-loop or persist combo decks where the +1/+1 pump is a functional piece of a kill condition, not just a combat trick.

Price Context
Current price
$0.07 bulk tier
At $0.07, Ghost Warden is deep bulk — pick it out of a commons box and don't think twice about the cost. Demand is narrow enough that the price is unlikely to move in either direction barring an unexpected reprint in a precon combo package.
