Imotekh the Stormlord generates a constant stream of Necron Warriors that trade in combat and fill the graveyard, giving Ghost Ark a packed fuel tank from turn one — the two cards form a self-sustaining loop of tokens dying and returning that opponents have to answer repeatedly or lose to attrition.

Commander is where Ghost Ark lives — the recursive value it generates compounds across a long multiplayer game in a way that one-on-one formats would punish much faster. Legacy and Vintage are technically legal, but a five-mana do-nothing-the-turn-it-enters artifact has no place in those formats. Oathbreaker is the one other venue worth mentioning, specifically in a Necron-tribal shell where the token density can match what Commander provides.
