Gempalm Strider pumps your entire Elf team and draws a card without ever hitting the battlefield — cycling it at instant speed means trading one mana and a card for a lord effect plus a replacement card. It's a staple in any Elf deck that can run it.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Gempalm Strider slots into any Elf tribal build — the cycling trigger scales with board state, and doing it at instant speed turns a otherwise dead card in hand into a combat trick that replaces itself. Legacy Elf decks have historically used it for the same reason: it's resilient to counterspells on the creature stack and generates value even when you're flooded on gas. Vintage is legal but the format doesn't want it. Gempalm Strider is locked out of Modern, Pioneer, Standard, and Pauper, so Commander and Legacy are the only homes that matter.

Price Context
Current price
$0.17 bulk tier
At $0.17, Gempalm Strider is deep bulk — easy to pick up in any common box or as a throw-in. Elf tribal demand keeps a floor under it, but don't expect the price to move.
