Gate Hound card art
Gate Hound gives your entire team vigilance for as long as it stays enchanted — a static anthem effect on a creature that costs three mana for a 1/2 body. The rate is poor and the enchantment dependency makes it fragile, so Gate Hound earns a slot only in dedicated enchantress or aura-synergy lists.

Gate Hound is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but sees meaningful play in almost none of them. In Commander, it competes against unconditional vigilance-granters that don't require an aura attached to survive — cards that do the job without a two-piece requirement. In Pauper, where commons actually matter for the card pool, a 1/2 for three with conditional upside still can't clear the bar set by more efficient white creatures. Across Legacy and Vintage, Gate Hound simply doesn't register.

Price Context

Current price

$0.23 bulk tier

At $0.23, Gate Hound is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not demand. That price is stable for the same reason it's low: nothing is pushing this card into any competitive conversation, so don't expect movement in either direction.
