Gastal Thrillseeker card art
Gastal Thrillseeker converts a single point of damage on any creature into a scalable damage trigger — the threat is immediate and visible the turn it enters. Gev, Scaled Scorch is the natural home, turning every ping from Gev's commander damage into a bonus Thrillseeker proc that snowballs faster than opponents can answer.

Gev, Scaled Scorch's ability to spread one damage across multiple creatures feeds Gastal Thrillseeker repeatedly in a single attack step, turning a board-wide ping into a chain of triggers that can end the game before blockers matter.

In Commander, Gastal Thrillseeker slots cleanly into any Rakdos or Jund deck built around pinging effects, and it's essentially mandatory in Gev, Scaled Scorch lists. Outside Commander, the effect is too incremental for the tempo demands of Modern or Pioneer, where a three-mana creature needs to close games rather than reward damage already dealt. Standard offers the most fertile non-Commander ground if a dedicated ping shell exists in the meta, but Gastal Thrillseeker will always be a build-around rather than a staple. Legacy and Vintage have no interest — the ceiling is too low for those formats' kill speeds.

Price Context

Current price

$0.20 bulk tier

At $0.20, Gastal Thrillseeker sits firmly in bulk territory — easy to acquire as a four-of without a second thought. Bulk rares with narrow build-around requirements rarely climb unless a dominant commander pushes demand, so treat this as a pickup-and-forget card rather than a spec.
