The catch is WUBRG plus two, which is steep even in five-color shells, but Displacer Kitten turns that activation cost into a repeatable engine that wins on the spot.

Commander is where Garth One-Eye belongs — the command zone makes his five-color identity a feature rather than a casting cost problem, and his activated abilities scale well into the mid-to-late game where WUBRG is achievable. In Legacy and Vintage he's technically legal but competes against faster, more focused threats and offers nothing over conventional five-color piles. Oathbreaker shares the Commander logic but the 60-card singleton constraint makes consistent WUBRG harder to hit.
