Galedrifter // Waildrifter is a two-mana 2/2 flier that survives its owner's death by haunting a creature and granting it flying — board presence that doesn't fully disappear when it dies. The rate is unexceptional, but the recursive upside in sacrifice and graveyard strategies makes it worth the slot.

In Commander, Galedrifter // Waildrifter fits narrowly into sacrifice-value or aristocrats builds that want bodies which do something on death — the haunt trigger turning a ground creature into an evasion threat is a real upside, not just a consolation prize. In Pauper, where commons with built-in recursion and evasion matter, it competes in tempo and flicker shells looking for cheap flying bodies that punish the opponent even through removal. Modern and Legacy have far better options at this rate, so Galedrifter // Waildrifter is effectively a Pauper and casual Commander card. Pioneer sits similarly — the card is legal but rarely correct.
