Furnace Gremlin lets you sacrifice it at instant speed to pump a target creature's power by 3 until end of turn — a one-time trick on a 1/1 body for two mana. It's narrow enough that only dedicated sacrifice or sac-outlet-matters builds have any reason to run it.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Furnace Gremlin is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but being legal and being playable are different things. In Commander, it sees occasional play in Goblin tribal lists or sacrifice-synergy builds where the creature type and disposable body matter more than the ability itself. In 60-card formats, a two-mana 1/1 that trades itself for a one-turn pump is simply outclassed — there are faster, more efficient ways to push damage or generate value. Oathbreaker follows the same logic as Commander at a smaller table, where the one-shot nature of Furnace Gremlin rarely justifies the slot.

Price Context
Current price
$0.06 bulk tier
At $0.06, Furnace Gremlin is deep bulk — you're picking it out of a common bin, not ordering it. That price will hold simply because there's no demand pressure to move it in either direction.
